How it works
Hapo BACK is a fully passive lumbar exoskeleton — no motors, no batteries. A composite spring rod system redirects part of the upper body’s weight from the back muscles to the thighs, reducing lumbar load during bending and lifting. Support activates automatically as soon as the trunk flexes beyond 5° and increases progressively with the angle of forward lean. The system features a disengageable mechanism — support can be deactivated when not needed, for example when sitting or driving. The device does not compress the spine and does not restrict natural movement.

Support activates as soon as the trunk forms an angle greater than 5° — covering both static forward-leaning positions and dynamic lifting movements from a crouching position upward.
Does the support disengage when sitting or driving?
Yes. Hapo BACK has a disengageable mechanism that allows the user to deactivate support when not needed — for example when sitting, driving, or taking a break.
Does Hapo BACK compress the spine?
No. The spring rod system redistributes trunk weight to the thighs without compressing the spine or restricting the lumbar vertebrae. Intervertebral discs are actively protected.
How long does it take to put on?
Approximately 40 seconds to put on and 15 seconds to remove. The device goes on like a backpack.
What maintenance does Hapo BACK require?
Minimal. Textile components are breathable, washable and water-repellent. The device requires no batteries and no motor servicing. Warranty is 2 years.
